The office of Vital Records officially began recording births in 1907, and death recordings began in 1900.

So, before 1882, there are no government-issued certificates recording these life events. The Vital Records Office at the Indiana State Department of Health is responsible in maintaining the Indiana Birth Records. Requests are accommodated for an amount of $10.00 per copy which covers a search of 5 years. The compilation of such files started way back in October 1907 up to present. Extra copies would be paid at $4.00 each.
